This FREE event is open to clinicians, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and advocates.
In July 2024, the state of Iowa instituted a near-total abortion ban, enacted after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade in 2022.
As a result, patients are seeking abortion care at out-of-state clinics or through purchasing abortion medication online.
This seminar will give information on the provision of clinical abortion care for patients in Iowa, and how clinicians can provide care for pregnant patients who are considering their options.
Event Location: Quad Cities Area
(Venue provided after registration)
Meals & Refreshments will be provided
After this event, participants will:
1. Receive an overview of abortion care for patients in restricted states, including self-managed abortion, interstate practice and legal restrictions.
2. Understand post-abortion care, including complication management and contraceptive counseling.
3. Facilitate values clarification exercises to foster a safe clinical space for patient-centered abortion care.
