Understanding Neurodiversity Affirming Care: Parts 1 & 2

The purpose of this training is to provide the newest information to providers who are unaware of the concepts of Neurodiversity Affirming care and are looking to understand identifying and treating various conditions such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, TBI, OCD, and more.

The presenter is Brooke LaLone, LMFT, who is a local therapist in private practice who specializes in Neurodiversity Affirming care to teens and adults. Brooke received a late adult diagnosis of ADHD in her postpartum period that opened her eyes to how important it is for all clinicians to understand the nuances of neurodivergent diagnoses and how life-changing they can be for clients. Brooke also specializes in treating eating disorders, perinatal mental health, and trauma - - and how all of these can intersect with neurodiversity. In addition to working with individuals, Brooke is also a certified Neurodiverse Couples therapist through AANE.

This training will be conducted in two parts:

(Disclaimer - it is highly recommended that Part 1 is completed before taking Part 2 , but not required if you have previous neurodiversity affirming care experience.)

Part 1 (9:30am-12:30pm) Learning Objectives:

• Understand the history and main components to Neurodiversity Affirming Care
• Indentify neurodivergent conditions/disgnoses
• Begin to understand the main concepts of how to treat and implement Neurodiversity Affirming Care in their practice

(Lunch is One Hour 12:30-1:30 - On Your Own)

Part 2 (1:30pm - 4:30pm) Learning Objectives:

• Identify specific treatments for ADHD
• Identify specific treatments for Autism
• Understand how neurodivergent conditions impact relationships
• Understand how to more effectively advocate for neurodivergent clients such as through collaborating with other providers, seeking outside resources, assisting with disability and other benefits

Fees are as follows:

• Full Day Parts 1 & 2 - $215.00 (provides six total contact hours)
• Part 1 only - $125 (provides three contact hours)
• Part 2 only - $125 (provides three contact hours)
