THE DETAILS:
We’ve got a new Fusion Belly Dance class coming your way! Like always, I like to blend my belly dance with a little something else-hence the Fusion. Summer being right around the corner, what better way to heat things up with a little sassy Samba peppered into some belly dance? We’ll be doing some fun n flirty Samba and samba-reggae moves along with our usual shimmies to “Hey Mama,” by the Black Eyed Peas-which uses “Mas Que Nada” ( a Samba staple) as its inspo! Also, if you’re interested in dancing in the August 12th show case, this will be one of the class choreos!
WHAT TO WEAR?
Come to class in whatever clothes you comfortably move in. A bare foot or dancer slipper (no heels) is typical for this class.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
No dance experience is required as a break down of the movements and an explanation of the vocabulary used will be given in class. This class is multi-level, I always offer modifications and extra challenges for more advanced students. There’s also some floorwork for those of you who love it, but a standing version as well-if the floor’s not your jam. Each class consists of a basic warm up, a tutorial in the technique, then those techniques get drilled in combinations. We’ll then string those combos string together to make a fully formed choreographed routine. And we always end class with a little lead-and-follow freestyle!

Classes are located at Kinections Studio, 718 University Ave. Classes are Thursday evenings 7-8pm, the session runs from 5/29th-7/24th (NO CLASS 6/12th) Register for the full 8 week session for $120 (that’s $15 a class) or drop-in for $20 a piece. If you’re interested in performing in the Iron Smoke showcase, I insist on registering for the full 8 weeks and letting me know by the third class-so that i can factor you into formations and featured sections.
