Join us on the second Saturday of each month for Sudden Death Strikes! Players will be assigned into groups of 3 or 4 to compete on a random game each round, and the 3rd and 4th place players receive a strike (or just the 3rd place player in a 3-player group). Three strikes and you're out of the tournament -- or are you? All players who receive a third strike at the end of the first few rounds play a sudden-death, head-to-head match against another person who just received a third strike, and the winner gets a strike erased to get back into the tournament! All skill levels welcome!
Entry fee: $10 for players with IFPA rankings of 1-1000, and $5 for players ranked 1001+ or unranked, plus credit drop. $1 goes to the IFPA, and the rest goes to the prize pot. The top four players receive cash, and all players are eligible to win prizes in random giveaways, including a Stern translite!

Event rules:
1. This is a group knockout tournament using traditional strikes (0/0/1/1 or 0/0/1). Players will be initially seeded by IFPA ranking and paired with adjacent-seeded players in the first round, then Swiss pairing based on strikes received for following rounds. Game selection will be balanced, and player order will be ascending IFPA ranking (highest to lowest).
2. When a player receives a third strike, he or she will play a head-to-head sudden death match with another player who received a third strike in the same round. The winner of the sudden death match will have a strike removed and will remain in the tournament with two strikes. The loser will be eliminated from the tournament. Sudden death pairings will be based on adjacent seeding/IFPA ranking.
3. If an odd number of players receive a third strike at the same time, the lowest-seeded player will wait until the completion of the next round to play a sudden-death match against a player who receives a third strike in the subsequent round.
4. Sudden death matches will only be used until the first round that starts with 50% or less of the total players in the tournament. After that point is reached, all players who receive a third strike will be eliminated. However, if a player must wait until the next round to play a sudden death match when the 50%-or-less point is reached, the player is still eligible to play a sudden death match against the lowest-seeded player who receives their third strike in the next round.
5. Cash prizes will be given to the last four remaining players (40%/30%/20%/10%). If the 3rd and 4th place players are eliminated in the same round, their places will be determined by their scores in their round of elimination.
6. Extra balls will be disabled when possible. If an extra ball is awarded, the player may set up a skill shot with the flippers before plunging, but once the ball is plunged, the player must not touch the machine (unless additional manual plunges are required due to ball saves and/or lack of playfield validation).
7. Players not currently playing may notify the player at the game of an available ball save if that player walks away from the game while the saved ball is returned to the game. There is no other coaching/assisting allowed while a player is actively playing, but coaching is permitted while a player is not actively playing.
