We offer multiple levels of progressive classes for both Urban Kiz and BZouk and host a weekly kizzouk practice social. We are breaking from weekly progressive classes for the summer but have lots of special training and social events planned to keep your dance flame lit. Come get a taste, meet our instructors and check out our community; we look forward to dancing with you!
Urban Kiz is a connection-based partner social dance that evolved in Paris just over a decade ago with roots in Kizomba, a cultural partner dance native to Angola in Africa. Urban kiz fuses elements from other dance styles including tango and hip hop. It can be danced to many styles of music including pop, r&b, hip hop, EDM...at a wide variety of speeds. Charlie & Jennifer are the only Urban Kiz instructors in RVA.
Brazilian Zouk is a connection-based partner social dance that evolved in the early 1990s in Brazil with roots in Lambada - a Brazilian cultural social dance, modern dance and ballet, and sounds evolving from Caribbean zouk music. It can be danced to a wide variety of music as well, with lots of overlap with Urban Kiz-able music. Will Russ was the 1st instructor to bring Brazilian Zouk to RVA and offers progressive classes via Dançarina Events in addition to instructors Tom & Molly.
