About the event

SLAM Social featuring OPUS 216
Enjoy specialty cocktails, free tickets to Roaring: Art, Fashion, and the Automobile in France, 1918–1939, and live music during OPUS 216‘s St. Louis debut performance. From Django Reinhardt to Maurice Ravel, the ensemble’s performance, which begins at 6:30 pm in Grigg Gallery, will cover works from the 1910s through the 1930s—heavily inspired by Roaring—alongside a few musical surprises.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Cleveland-based string ensemble OPUS 216 has created a niche performance experience with dynamic concerts that traverse string jazz, classical, folk, and modern styles. Founded in 2012 in collaboration with the Cleveland Museum of Art for a major public event, the ensemble has appeared in every major venue and recording studio in Northeast Ohio. It now performs for more than 500 events annually, from private events to community concerts and public shows. OPUS 216 has appeared on countless studio albums for other artists; the ensemble was recently featured in the 2025 film Lost & Found in Cleveland starring Martin Sheen, and OPUS 216 founder Ariel Karas performs on the award-winning 2016 documentary, Violins of Hope: Strings of the Holocaust, narrated by Adrien Brody. Core players have performed alongside innumerable major artists and sub with The Cleveland Orchestra.

OPUS 216’s appearance at the Saint Louis Art Museum comes as part of their debut Midwest tour, with stops in Indiana, Missouri, and Illinois. Their third studio album, Live from Suma, released on Friday, May 30, 2025. The ensemble includes Ariel Karas on violin, Brian Slawta on viola, Trevor Kazarian on cello, Steven Brija on bass, and Patrick Duke on percussion.

Generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
