This workshop series is completely free—no cost to attend. Each 90-minute session is held in-person at the conference room of Three Rivers Community Foundation (3RCF) and is designed to be hands-on, collaborative, and highly practical.

Workshop 1: Story Structures That Move People (and Raise More Money)
Discover the storytelling and copywriting techniques that turn everyday work into donor-ready narratives.
In this session, we’ll break down timeless storytelling tools used by world-class communicators—and show you how to apply them to your nonprofit’s real-life moments. We’ll also dig into core copywriting skills that bring those stories to life on the page and in campaigns.
You’ll learn:
1) How to use the 3-act structure to build tension, emotion, and a satisfying payoff
2) What “character pairs” are—and why it can make for a great nonprofit story
3) How circular storytelling creates emotional resonance and long-term donor memory
4) How to adapt story structures for newsletters, appeal letters, social media, and more
5) How to write headlines that grab attention and frame your message
6) How to use the AIDA framework (Attention–Interest–Desire–Action) to drive donor response
7) How to sequence content to drive a fundraising goal or event launch.

Chris Wagar – Workshop Facilitator and Storyteller
Chris is a professor, copywriter, and nonprofit communications strategist. He’s also the Co-Founder and Head Scriptwriter at Time Magic Studios, where he helps mission-driven organizations tell stories that raise funds and inspire action. Chris discovered the power of storytelling while serving in the Peace Corps, where a documentary he produced helped secure a $500,000 grant for his partner organization. Today, he blends creative strategy with real-world experience to help nonprofits connect with donors through meaningful, results-driven stories.
