Nexus is hosting a Sealed Deck Regional Championship Qualifier which will be held in Amsterdam.
The Nexus qualifier will be held at Nexus’s play space in Glæsibær on Sunday, June 15th, and will start promptly at 11:30. There will be penalties for late arrivals. The entry fee will be 4500kr during pre-sale, and 5000kr after. This time, we will be playing using Tarkir: Dragonstorm booster packs.
We are offering some great prizes for the top 8 competitors;
First place will receive a 60,000 krónur travel grant to participate in the Regional Championship (The winner of the our previous RCQ on June 1st is not eligible for this prize).
The top 4 players will receive a box topper, and the top 2 players will receive a further box topper, in addition to participation and prize promos, the prize promos going to the top 8 players.
The tournament will be played according to the Magic Competitive REL competition rules. We encourage all participants to read up on Competitive REL requirements.
It is very important that you bring everything you need to play, including at least a pen and paper as players are required to keep track of their life total during the game, clean sleeves, and preferably a playmat. A judge will randomly check decks during the tournament to make sure they are legal (unmarked cards, unmarked sleeves, all according to the card list). If a deck is illegal, standard penalties apply.
The tournament will begin with players building a deck from the contents of 6 Tarkir: Dragonstorm Play Boosters. Seating is random, and after a set amount of time, a random opponent takes your deck and records the contents properly to create a formal deck list.
The deck list is binding and is preserved between matches. Continuous deck construction does not apply at Comp REL.
Example of an illegal deck:
A corner of plastic marked in an easily recognizable way
A card is missing from the deck according to the list, or a card is in the deck from the sideboard when game 1 of the round begins.
Proxy cards are in the deck.
Finally, we encourage anyone who is not familiar with it to read up on the Magic: The Gathering competitive rules (called Competitive Rules Enforcement) before the tournament. Otherwise, the competition should be accessible and we encourage anyone interested to join in the fun!
