Vasulka Foundation og BERG Contemporary bjóða til málþings þar sem varpað verður ljósi á brautryðjandi starf og áhrifamikil verk Steinu og Woody Vasulka, ásamt varðveislu stafrænna og tímatengdra miðla, í samhengi við lykilverk Woodys, The Brotherhood (1990-1998), sem nú er sýnt í BERG Contemporary.
Á málþinginu koma saman virtir fagaðilar úr heimi samtímalista og forvörslu margmiðla og deila þekkingu sinni og innsýn. Kafað verður í verk Steinu og Woody Vasulka og fjallað um varanleg áhrif þeirra á samtímalistir og tækni, auk þess sem rætt verður um þær áskoranir og tækifæri sem felast í varðveislu og túlkun tímatengdra verka, með sérstaka áherslu á verkið The Brotherhood.

1:30 p.m.: Opnunarræða Ingibjargar Jónsdóttur (BERG Contemporary) og Kristínar Scheving (Listasafn Árnesinga, Vasulka Foundation).
1:45 p.m.: Vasulka, þá og nú – Kristín Scheving varpar ljósi á aðferðafræði Vasulka hjónanna, erindið inniheldur samtal við Steinu Vasulka.
2:10 p.m.: Endurgerð The Brotherhood – Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir.
2:30 p.m.: Þrjú framsöguerindi frá forvörðum tímatengdra miðla Tate safnsins:

The Vasulka Foundation and BERG Contemporary are proud to present a symposium highlighting the dynamic impact of Steina and Woody Vasulka on the world of video art and the conservation of digital and time-based media, in the context of Woody Vasulka's magnum opus, The Brotherhood (1990–1998), currently on view at BERG Contemporary.
The symposium brings together prominent figures from the art world and media conservation to exchange their insights and expertise, and explore the pioneering work of Steina and Woody Vasulka, their lasting impact on contemporary art and technology, and the challenges and opportunities involved in preserving and interpreting time-based media artworks, focusing on The Brotherhood.
