Then … Is it wrong to love a laser? Come hear about some of the more interesting lasers that Dr. Bobbs has encountered (or invented) during his career. You’ll hear stories about the zebra laser, the dog-replacement laser, the frog-legs laser, three lightning-bolt lasers, the day-dreaming laser, the edible laser, the golden-rectangle laser, and many more.
Replete with cartoons, jokes, trivia, and historical and personal anecdotes, both talks promise to be entertaining as well as enlightening.
The lectures are aimed at adults, but would also be understood by exceptionally inquisitive teens.
Dr. Bobbs has a long career researching laser and electro-optical physics, and has been Adjunct Professor of Physics at Moorpark College and California Lutheran University. He currently works at Intelligent Optical Systems in Gardena as Senior Scientist of the Laser Ultrasonics Group, and lives in Redondo Beach. He is also renowned for his poetry performances, particularly as Edgar Allan Poe.
