Story Time with Hannah Chung!

Join us on Sunday, December 7th at 11AM as we host Hannah Chung, who will be reading from her latest book, Bread Days. Following story time, patrons can enjoy an interactive drawing session. Bread Days as well as Hannah's previous book, The Most Perfect Persimmon, will be available for purchase.

About the book:

In this moving yet hopeful picture book for readers ages 4-8, a young girl rediscovers her passion for baking bread as she once did with her papa—and finds joy again in sharing it with her loved ones.

Nara loves nothing more than her bread days with Papa. Together, they mix, fold, and score dough, and eagerly watch as it rises to a delicious loaf in the oven. But one day, Papa is no longer there, and Nara’s bread days are suddenly empty. Instead, she’s left with feelings and memories that sadden and confuse her. But when Nara starts to take care of the sourdough starter she and Papa once made, she finds solace in bread days again—and, together with Mama, is able to keep a family tradition alive in memory of past loved ones. From the author of The Most Perfect Persimmon, this picture book is a touching story of parent-child connection and the love language of food, as well as a comforting read for anyone who has experienced loss.

About the author:

Hannah Chung is an author-illustrator who loves creating stories with a sense of wonder and warmth. She has published two picture books, (2024) and (2025). She draws inspiration from playful conversations with children, the many hometowns she grew up in, and all the life lessons from being an older sister.

In addition to children’s books, Hannah is an award-winning design leader, entrepreneur, and adjunct professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. She co-founded two organizations focused on improving children’s lives and empowering student innovators. Her work has received honors, including the National Design Award, Cannes Silver Lion, CES Best of Innovation, Time’s Best Inventions, and the SXSW Interactive Innovation Award. Hannah spends her time in Providence, Rhode Island, and Seoul, South Korea.
