Skirt-making Workshop (Part 1)- Pattern Making

In Part 1 of the Build Your Own Skirt Workshop, you’ll learn how to create a versatile skirt pattern based on your own measurements. This foundational pattern can be adapted for straight skirts, pencil skirts, or other skirt designs, making it highly versatile for different body types.

You’ll gain a practical understanding of how 3D body shapes translate into 2D flat patterns, and learn the basics of pattern drafting in an easy-to-follow, visual way. No prior pattern-making experience is required.

• How body shapes (3D) translate into flat sewing patterns (2D)
• How to draft a basic skirt block using just four measurements
• How to create a versatile base pattern for multiple skirt styles
• How this pattern works for different body types

• Your own custom skirt pattern
• Written notes for repeating the process at home
• A method to adapt the base pattern for future designs

• Dates: Saturday, February 21
• Time: 1:00–3:30 PM
• Workshop fee: $85
• Materials fee: $10 (includes pattern-making paper and tools)

All materials are provided — you don’t need to bring anything to this class.

Hi there! I’m Julia Medeiros, a seasoned professional in the world of apparel.

With over 20 years of experience under my belt (yes, I started early!) I've honed my skills as a tailor, pattern maker, and sewing technologist. Specializing in women’s clothing, and utilizing my One Fitting method, I’ve brought countless unique garments to life, turning my clients’ visions into reality. I have deep experience with teaching sewing classes around the world I am excited to bring my expertise to The Nest.
