Duel is the collaboration of singer/songwriter/keyboardist, Jen Kearney and drummer, Peter MacLean. Kearney and MacLean have played for many years together and have experimented with playing stripped down versions of Kearney’s existing original music and completely new material composed by Kearney and MacLean together. The result is Duel- a true fusion of styles and sounds.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Jen Kearney has spent some time seasoning her style of original music. Her sound is truly an amalgamation of musical styles including Soul, R&B, Funk, Rock, and Latin. Kearney’s music and attention to lyrics and has met critical acclaim nationally and internationally.
Kearney released a 4-song EP called ‘Atlantic’ in 2022. She has released several self-produced full-length albums and session work on many other projects. She has toured both as a solo act and with a full band including MacLean. She spent 2018-2020 in London touring the UK with her own act and with the legendary Snowboy & the Latin Section. She has shared the stage with the likes of Maceo Parker, Los Lobos, Daryl Hall, Mavis Staples, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, The Derek Trucks Band and more.
Peter MacLean is arguably one of the most sought-after drummers in New England and nationally. He is a veteran player in the Wally’s Tuesday Funk band at the legendary Wally’s Café Jazz club in Boston. MacLean has likely played in almost every band that has come through Boston- the list is too long. Most recently, MacLean spent a few years touring as the drummer for funk legend, Maceo Parker.
