Welcome.
I appreciate you being here
Count it all, JOY! is a nonlinear performance and living archive centering the joy of Black women and femmes.
This experience explores performance as a portal to my non-prescribed arrival of joy in care(ful)assemblages.
This experience is crafted with care, with testimonies from Black women and femmes from Boston to Brazil at the heart of the work.
Each performance becomes a space where our stories are honored, our joy is uplifted, and community is cultivated.
Rather than a traditional play, this is an invitation to witness and engage as collaborators, not spectators.
My prayer is that my experience serves as an invitation for Black women and femmes who have found the rainbow and decided that it was not enough.
As my work is both intellectual and devotional, it is also a love letter to my community of Black women and femmes.
It is a manifesto for our survival and freedom.
It is a practice and a pathway towards a long-awaited return to my mother’s garden.
In this place, this liminal space, we are not dis-placed.
We are found.
Praise be.
*Please note, this performance is for BIPOC affinity audience members. Thank you
