Blackfeather Broadsword Academy is proud to once again bring Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) competition to the Prosser Highland Games.
This year we are hosting a single handed sword tournament and a Long Knife Tournament. Steel swords and training Knives will be provided. Please see accompanying ruleset for rules and gear requirements. Please reach out with any questions.
These tournaments are open to any weapon fighting martial artist (HEMA, FMA, or other) that is able to attend with the appropriate level of armor.
Following the tournament, we will spend the day with friendly sparring, and end with a BBQ, location to be determined. If you are traveling, you can attend for a small donation ($10 per person suggested?), or you can bring a dish of your choice.
Here is the link for the rule set we will be using:

This rule set is still a work in progress, but it is unlikely much if any changes will be made. This rule set is one being developed for use with a wider range of weapon types, thus the inclusion of rattan and padded weapons in the gear requirements section. The Skirmish will be using only training knives (Cold Steel Bowies) and provided Steel training Swords. The gear requirements listed for each apply.
If you have any questions, please feel free to message Blackbird Training Group (
