Audition Info:
PowPAC welcomes and encourages actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to submit for these roles.
• PowPAC Theater is located at 13250 Poway Road, Poway, CA 92064 (Upstairs) – Elevator access in rear of building.
• Auditions Monday, June 9 and Tuesday June 10, 2025. 7:00-9:00 p.m. (Arrive early for paperwork and schedule comparison).
• Callbacks will be by invitation Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, if required.
• Auditions will consist of readings from the script and other media chosen by the director.
• Please bring a resume of theatrical experience and a headshot.
• Appointments not necessary.

Compensation & Union Contract Details
• No Pay – Volunteer Organization
Rehearsals and Performance Dates:
• Rehearsals one evening per week until on-site rehearsals start on or around July 24th. Thereafter, rehearsals will be 3-4 evenings per week, Sunday through Thursday based on Cast availability.
• Rehearsal times will be based on cast availability.
• Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m., September 19th through October 12th, with Saturday matinees on September 27th and October 11th at 2:00 p.m.
About the Play:
Social Security is a comedy by Andrew Bergman that premiered on Broadway in 1986. The play centers on married art dealers Barbara and David Kahn, whose tranquil Manhattan life is disrupted by the arrival of Barbara's sister, Trudy, and her husband, Martin. They bring along their elderly mother, Sophie, intending to leave her with the Kahns while they deal with their daughter's personal issues. The situation becomes more complicated and humorous when Sophie forms an unexpected romantic connection with Maurice Koenig, the Kahns' best client and an elderly minimalist artist.

Characteristics: Eccentric and elderly Jewish mother of Barbara and Trudy
Maurice Koenig:
Age: 70-80
Gender: Male presenting
Characteristics: A suave, minimalist artist, the Kahn’s best client.
