A free mini-tour of Society Hill on Flag Day
I’m leading this 60-minute tour on Flag Day, Saturday, June 14, starting at 2 p.m. at the NW corner, 3rd Street at Pine Street, Philadelphia, near the Kosciuszko House.
To reserve a spot, just email me at
SmltIHwgcmVhbHBoaWxseWhpc3RvcnkgISBjb20= and put “I Want to Join Your Free Tour” in the subject line.
The tour will wind through sites in Society Hill for about one hour and end up at Head House Books, 619 S. 2nd Street, for a book signing.
You’re under no obligation to buy a book.
But if you want a signed copy of my book, “Real Philly History, Real Fast,” please order it through Head House Books at this link.
At the signing, I’ll also tell you a fun, easy way to remember Philadelphia streets I learned from my mother.
I want to thank my fellow tour guide, Jim Dunn, for helping set this up, and also Sarah Adler at Head House Books, for making it happen.
Note: Months after we set this tour up, I learned there will be a big parade in Washington, D.C., that same day. It will include 28 Abrams tanks, 6,700 soldiers, 50 helicopters, 34 horses, two mules, a dog and more. My tour won’t have any of those things … just interesting historical facts about Society Hill.
We will meet near the Kosciuszko House, the smallest unit in the entire National Park System. It is .02 acres in size.
