ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
My name is Jen, and I was born and raised in Charlevoix. I stated Gaudy Giggles Paint Parties in 2019. I have never considered myself an artist- I have always loved art, but never thought I had the skill set to create beautiful work. My brother was an awesome artist and could draw anything. I was always so envious of his talents.
In college, I had to take one art class as part of the General Education Program. I took Photography, because I thought anyone can take a picture and it’s a good life skill. I loved being in the art department, I found myself doing my homework in the halls because I loved the smell of all the art supplies. My photography professor saw my interest in art and pushed me into more classes; I resisted. Turns out I did have a talent for art- I just needed guidance. It wasn’t something I could just do, I needed support and direction. With a little help, I was off and running and ended up taking so many art classes that I left college with a double minor in art.
Even with my degree I still never dove into painting, it was my last fear of art I needed to conquer. About 5 years ago, I took a leap toward overcoming that last fear and I took a painting class. I picked up a brush and haven’t put it down since. I thoroughly enjoy watching people work through their hesitation or fear of picking up that brush and realizing they just painted something amazing.
