We are so excited to be able to offer people the opportunity to take part in this Outdoor Hiking challenge with a fitness twist! - a first for Penwith!
Led by Fay, an experienced long distance Hiker and Peak Climber and her team of guides - participants will complete a series of 7 events ranging from 10k to the 42k final [the length of a full Marathon] towards the end of the year. It's a great opportunity to be outdoors, make new friends and discover more of what you are truly capable of! but here's the clever part... The fitness aspect works alongside the principles of Endurance Training. In short - Consistency + Low Intensity over time = Weight Loss, Body Shape Change, Higher Metabolism, Improved Mood, Reduced Symptoms of Depression & Anxiety, Reduced Risk of Cancer, Better Sleep, Increased Energy and the list can go on... effectively your getting into shape without really realising it!
This challenge is designed for non experienced Walkers and Hikers to progressively improve their fitness levels and achieve new goals. All participants will receive a gym based training programme to help them improve their overall fitness and prepare for each upcoming event. This is optional but advised. Additionally participants also have the option of attending one of Oxygen's Strength and Conditioning Groups and/or arrange Personal Training if they feel 1-1 support may be beneficial for them.
Outdoor Pursuits has been born from our own personal experiences that big changes are achievable and a passion to show people that they can! whilst creating an opportunity for people to achieve their own success story. Irrespective of age, current fitness levels and in the face of many pre existing mental and physical health conditions - whatever it is you feel is holding you back then this is our advice to you:

F.A.Q's:
> "I am not very fast! and I am worried I will slow the group down" - You won't!! the group will naturally divide into 2 or 3 smaller groups as each event progresses and this is planned for. Each route is planned with checkpoints which are used to make up time - everyone crosses the finish lines together.
> "When will the events be?" - Events will always be held on Saturdays with 2-3 weeks between each event to allow for sufficient rest, recovery and training.
> "Do I need to be a member of Oxygen Gym to book?" - No, you don't have to be a member however gym based training will undoubtedly help you train for each event whilst improving your overall Health and Fitness.
> "I have a physical/mental health condition and I don't think this is possible for me even though i'd like too" - Let us assess this! you'd be surprised how many conditions are actually improved by undertaking training like this! this could be just what you need!
> "I have undertaken many events before - can I still book even if I am really active?" - Yes! everyone is welcome to join! you never know who you might be inspiring. We would emphasise though that this is an Endurance Hiking Event and so we cannot accommodate people who wish to run. Everyone crosses the finish lines together.
> "Can I raise money for charity?" - Absolutely! Let us know which charity you'd like to raise money for and we will support you in making the necessary arrangements.
> "What equipment will I need?" - A kit list will be published in good time before the first event.
