Come ride with us on Saturday, June 21st to visit historic Fort Mott and Fort Delaware along the picturesque Delaware River! Fort Delaware, located on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River, is a masonry fort built in the same style as Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, and was the sight of a large POW Camp housing Confederate prisoners during the Civil War. Among the other themed programming that day, the staff at Fort Delaware will provide interpreters at the POW camp, tours of the fort, and is even offering to fire their 32 pounder Columbiad Cannon!
Ft. Mott, also a masonry fort and dating from the late 1800s, is located on the NJ side of the river, and is the embarkation point for the boat ride out to Ft. Delaware. Ft. Mott will provide our picnic lunch -- prepared on authentic US Army field mess equipment, they’ll give us a WW2 Anti-Aircraft searchlight demonstration, and they will bring out their large stable of restored antique military vehicles for our benefit, in addition to several other tours and demonstrations.
So, as you can see, both places are giving us the RED-CARPET treatment! We have quite a full day planned, and you don’t want to miss it!
