RSC Sunday Sesh: Samuel R. Saffery

From rural New Zealand to the subways and bodegas of New York, Samuel R. Saffery’s musical journey is unquestionably linked to place and movement.

Blending indie folk, alternative rock, and classical influences, his songs are delivered with a distinctive, melodic voice, as haunting as it is sweet.

Honest and gutsy lyricism, a commitment to simplicity, and a willingness to connect, combine to give listeners the sense they are sharing in a secret that might not be retold.

Saffery is a member of Indie folk bands Bird Courage and Lucide, and kid's music group Safari Kids. His solo music explores themes of identity, the subconscious world, human beings’ sense of place and their daily connections with one another.
