Papermaking using native plants

Discover the hidden beauty of native plant fibre and learn how to make your own harakeke paper from scratch.

Following an introduction to basic papermaking techniques, participants will hone their skills through several projects including sheets of paper, cards, letter writing stationery and more.

In addition to the practical skills, the workshop will cover technical aspects of preparing your own pulp using simple household appliances and commonly found plants.

Finished harakeke paper typically has a light straw colour and its own unique texture and feel. The paper is suitable for a wide range of uses.
