About the event

Front & Center Author Spotlight
The Author Spotlight is an excellent opportunity to meet regional authors in a casual atmosphere. Authors will be available to chat with you or purchase & sign their works

Authors included in this event are:

Gerry Harlan Brown-Canelands

Canelands follows the exploits of a rural Kentucky preacher who believes God has called him on a quest to pray for the children of the world. Alternately humorous and heartbreaking, this tale serves as a parable of sorts, intertwining the lives of small-town church folk, big-city hustlers, country music legends, and nefarious politicians, all with a single-minded mission of simply praying for the least of these. Brown is the author of White Squirrels and Ring the Bell. Canelands is his third novel.

Angela Mason -Death Rides the Sky: Incredible Survival Stories of America's Worst Tornado

The Tri-State Tornado, the deadliest tornadic event on record, destroyed cities, devoured whole farms, and set the record for the most deaths, injuries, and damage monetarily, a record which remains standing to this day. This is the story as told directly by nearly four dozen survivors or those involved in the aftermath of the mighty storm, in the most comprehensive account of the Tri-State Tornado ever to be compiled.

Angela Mason has been a vocalist, musician, actress and on-air radio personality but the love of writing and history overtook that. Death Rides the Sky is her first full-length non-fiction book, the creation of which helped her overcome her fear of tornadoes.

Jon Musgrave -The Counterfeiter’s Son

This is a mix of true crime and historical fantasy set at Cave in Rock in the days of the river pirates in 1799. His latest novel, The Counterfeiter's Son, set at the infamous Cave-in-Rock, grew out of his first screenplay which in turn developed from taking part in the filming of the "River Pirates" episode of In Search of History for The History Channel.

Musgrave is a historian and Southern Illinois author who speaks about the region's rich, dramatic past. He is the author of Slaves, Salt, Sex & Mr. Crenshaw and the Boy of Battle Ford, and Lincoln: Fresh from Abraham's Bosom.

Chris McClain Johnson -Three Guesses

Three Guesses is a humorous and heartbreaking, soulful and breathtaking, epistolary novella. Three Guesses celebrates love, friendship, hope, and the life-changing power of human connection.

Award-winning Southern writer Chris McClain Johnson grew up in Mayfield, Kentucky, graduated from Murray State University in Kentucky, and has lived in Memphis, Tennessee, for almost 40 years. At age 60, Chris fulfills the lifelong dream of having her first book published. Three Guesses, recipient of Regal House Publishing’s 2023 Fugere Book Prize Recognizing Finely Crafted Novellas, has received wide praise for being “intensely clever” and “wildly entertaining and smart” with “intimate, riveting prose” and “a fascinating look at modern friendship.”
