Butoh class on Saturday: Connection and disconnection

Butoh plays with the interaction and balance of mind and body, with the idea of becoming empty in order to better channel unconscious impulses to move and to expand awareness from the physical self to the wider environment, reaching out to the ‘community body’ (Kasai), creating connections between the ‘small cosmos’ of the individual and the 'large cosmos' (Ohno), where all of nature merges. Through exercises and improvisation, this class will explore themes of individuality, communication, and relationship.
