Welcome to ElderQueers (2SLGBTQIA+) Storytelling with Mary Ellen MacLean
“Want to tell your story? Or a story? What story have you always wanted to tell? As Elders in the queer community, our stories are important to be shared, to be heard, and to be remembered. “
– Mary Ellen MacLean
Back by popular demand, this summer session is open to folks who have never written a story and to those who have. If you have attended one of Mary Ellen’s workshops before, you are welcome to come back and develop your storytelling skills. Mary Ellen has over thirty years of experience creating work for the stage and collaborating with people of all ages and experience.
During this weeklong workshop the group will meet daily with Mary Ellen to learn some tools/skills in the art of creating a story for the stage and how to perform/tell them. Stories can be serious or comic or a blend of both. Participants may use movement, puppets, music – however you want to tell your story - are all welcome!
This workshop offers an opportunity to gather, deepen your community connections, and create stories with the support of each other and Mary Ellen’s guidance. The focus is on having FUN, learning some new skills, and connecting with each other.
Family and friends are invited to the final session to hear the participant’s stories.
This workshop is offered in English.
