Welcome to Foundations of Meditation--A Mindfulness and Mental Health Approach! My name is Sazi Wald, and I am a local therapist who will be facilitating this 4 week workshop.
During the training will explore foundations of meditation utilizing a mindfulness and mental health lens. This class is QTBIPOC affirming and queer led!!
We will be using many body and sensation attuning practices so please be aware if that is an issue for you.
Bringing your own cushion or pillows are suggested but not required especially during the first session as we will learn how to settle in our bodies using these tools.
We will meet for 45minutes from 7am-7:45am on Saturdays for 4 weeks and ask that you meditate daily in-between classe sessions using the skills from the workshop. You are encouraged to come a little early.
The group is limited to 6 people.

Outline:
Week 1: We will begin with intros the basics of what meditation is, how to approach meditation, how to sit, colonization awareness, mental health and the brain on meditation, and a brief, simple, practice.
Week 2: Pros and cons to meditation, consent, and other ways to increase benefits, along with more practice forms!
Week 3: We will practice different forms of daily mindfulness skills including walking meditation and nature attunement.
Week 4: Compassion meditation practice will be introduced along with resources for continuing and learning a formal practice.
