AUDITION NOTICE: THE SECRET GARDEN - SPRING VERSION

𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻: 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 is thrilled to announce auditions for the enchanting musical, 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻: 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, with music by Lucy Simon and book and lyrics by Marsha Norman, based on the classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄
This 90-minute version of the beloved musical captures the beauty and spirit of the original in half the time.
Orphaned in India, 11-year-old Mary Lennox moves to Yorkshire to live with her reclusive uncle Archibald and his disabled son Colin. The estate holds many wonders, including a magical garden that calls to the children with haunting melodies. Guided by the "Dreamers"—spirits from Mary's past—the story unfolds into a compelling tale of forgiveness and renewal.

𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀
𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗫: Female, 14-17 (Range: Young Voice, Ab3-D5). A ten-year-old girl sent to live with her uncle after her parents die. She is curious, often finds herself in trouble, and is stubborn, always fighting for what she believes in.

𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗫: Female, 28-45 (Range: Soprano, A3-D6). Mary's mother and a “dreamer” from the past. She is loyal to her husband and refuses to leave India during the cholera outbreak.

𝗠𝗥𝗦. 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗞: Female, Age Flexible (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible). Archibald’s housekeeper, as cold as Misselthwaite Manor itself.

𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗔: Female, 18-30 (Range: Mezzo-Soprano Belt, G3-D5). A faithful housemaid with a strong Yorkshire accent, whose wisdom often surpasses her age.

𝗠𝗥𝗦. 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗣/𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥: Female, Age Flexible (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible). Headmistress of a private school, who prides herself on nurturing girls with tempers.

𝗟𝗜𝗟𝗬: Female, 28-45 (Range: Soprano, Bb3-D6). Mary's aunt and Archibald Craven's wife, who tragically died in the garden and metaphorically haunts the manor walls.

𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗛: Female, Age Flexible (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible). Mary's Indian nanny.

𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗡 𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗡: Male, 14-17 (Range: Young Voice, A3-E5). Archibald's ten-year-old son, who has spent his life in bed due to a heart condition. He is stubborn and throws tantrums.

𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗟𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗫: Male, 30-45 (Range: Tenor, D3-A5). Mary's father, who tries to send Rose out of India during the cholera outbreak.

𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗗 𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗡: Male, 35-45 (Range: Baritone, C3-A4). Mary's uncle and lord of Misselthwaite Manor, a hunchback haunted by the past and afraid of the future. Mary reminds him of his deceased wife, Lily.

𝗗𝗥. 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗡: Male, 35-45 (Range: Baritone, C3-F#4). Archibald’s brother, trapped by the responsibility of caring for Colin. He is still in love with Lily, which fuels his unwillingness to move on.

𝗕𝗘𝗡 𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗙𝗙: Male, Age Flexible (Range: Ensemble/Part Flexible, E3-D#4). The head gardener, secretly entrusted with caring for Lily’s garden. He is an "old man" who knows a great deal about the estate's history.

𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗢𝗡: Male, 16-25 (Range: Tenor, D3-G4). Martha's younger brother. He cares for sick plants and animals and befriends Mary, convincing her to help with the garden.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦: Servants/Ensemble – Any Gender, 16 to Senior (household staff, gardener staff, kitchen staff).
