'A Walk in the Park' is a new guided walking series hosting by Nottingham Green Guardians on behalf of Nottingham City Council.
These walks are an opportunity to show the public around some of our most favoured green spaces. We have an abundance of parks, and 54 Nature Reserves and Local Wildlife Sites across the city, so there is much to explore. Not only will we be able to look for, and discuss biodiversity, but also touch on the social history and heritage of our diverse spaces.
Benefits of joining A Walk in the Park include:
Getting out in Nature
Socialising with likeminded individuals
Talk to a friendly representative from the Parks team
Discover places you never knew existed
Learn about the environment and local history
They're free!
Beeston Sidings is a Local Nature Reserve in the Dunkirk area of Nottingham, just off University Boulevard. The site is Split into two main bits, with some connecting habitat of trees and brook.
There is an excellent habitat mosaic of Woodlands, a pond, meadows and scrub mean there is always something to spot, from mini beasts to Heron and Buzzards. This site is renowned for it's butterfly populations, so fingers crossed for a clear day.
Parking is very limited, so we recommend using public transport for this walk, there are excellent bus and tram connections.
Meeting place is the entrance on Jesse Boot Avenue.
Please wear sturdy footwear.
