Frankie Manning’s choreographed Big Apple routine was made famous in the 1939 film ‘Keep Punching’ and today is danced at social events across the world.
While it has choreographed steps, it also encourages each dancer to bring their own interpretation and style to the moves making it so much fun to break out on the social dance floor when you hear those opening bars, and then generally chaos ensues from there 🤣
The Big Apple is an intermediate/advanced solo jazz routine and some knowledge of vernacular jazz steps will be helpful. This class won’t be aimed at complete beginners - everyone is welcome to give it a go but there’s a lot to cover in 3 hours!
I’ve booked the dance studio at Sewell Park Academy from 1-4pm and we’ll see how far we get! £10 cash or PayPal. There is parking on site.
I’ll also be running another session on Monday 7th July as a refresher and we can cover anything we run out of time on.
For those of you attending Fine City Swing, Jay Craig and His Orchestra will be playing The Big Apple Contest on Saturday night so you’ll get the opportunity to break out the routine in the wild to a live band!
