Portishead Carnival 2025

The Portishead Carnival is set to make a grand return on Saturday, June 14, 2025, after a seven-year hiatus. This cherished community event, with a history spanning over a century, promises a day filled with festivities for all ages. 

Event Schedule:

Procession: The carnival will kick off with a vibrant procession starting from the Lake Grounds at noon. The parade will wind its way through the High Street, showcasing an array of floats, marching bands, and walking groups, culminating at the Show Field opposite Gordano School on Clapton Lane. 

Show Field Activities: Upon arrival at the Show Field, attendees can look forward to:

• Community-led games and stalls, replacing traditional fairground rides, allowing local groups to raise funds for their causes.
• A variety of food and drink vendors.
• Live music performances by local bands.
• The "It's A Knockout" competition, sponsored by Mark's Barbers, invites teams of all ages to participate in fun challenges.

Pre-Carnival Events:

• Royal Disco: Scheduled for March 14, 2025, at the Portishead Youth & Community Centre, this event caters to children aged 8 to 16, with separate time slots for different age groups.
• Royal Ball: Set for March 29, 2025, at Clarence House, this adults-only event will feature the crowning of the 2025 Carnival King and Queen.

Getting Involved:

The carnival thrives on community participation. Residents, schools, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to:

• Join the Procession: Enter a float or walking group.
• Host a Stall: Set up a game or sales booth at the Show Field.
• Volunteer: Assist in various capacities to ensure the event's success.

To facilitate the event, the organizing committee has launched a GoFundMe campaign aiming to raise £5,000 for initial planning and administrative costs. Community members and businesses are invited to contribute or consider sponsorship opportunities.
