Senior actors perform scenes and short plays at Heartland
Young at Heartland, Heartland Theatre’s senior acting troupe, celebrating its 21st year, will perform their summer showcases at Heartland Theatre June 25 at 7:30 p.m. and June 27 at 2:00 p.m. on a donations-at-the-door basis (no reservations accepted).
Audiences will experience local seniors performing scenes on stage that were mostly written by local hometown seniors. There is no admission fee for the performances. Donations will be accepted to help with program expenses. No reservations are taken for this event, so first come, first seated. The performances are open to the public.
Doors will open at 20 minutes before curtain.
In preparation for their performances, these seniors have participated in a two-month acting workshop. The program is directed by Ann B. White, who founded the project 20 years ago. The workshop instructors and directors were Rich Tinaglia, Terri Whisenhunt and Sandra Zielinski.
This troupe is usually seen “on tour” at area nursing and retirement homes, and church and civic groups in McLean County. The showcases are staged at Heartland Theatre, located at 1110 Douglas St (One Normal Plaza), Normal IL, the Community Activity Center at the site of the former Illinois Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's School (ISSCS) Campus.
