Join us for an open studio day with MATCH artists Christina Zambulaki and Caterina Miralles, as they share works-in-progress from their residency in Nicosia.
Their joint research project, Earth-bound Exercises, connects two contrasting Cypriot landscapes: the community-driven ecosystem of the Gardens of the Future and the forest surrounding the Hellenic Copper Mines, a site shaped by decades of extraction.
Through field recording, point-cloud mapping, and the creation of experimental water-collection devices, the artists explore non-extractive ways of sensing and documenting land. The project treats terrain as porous, atmospheric, and constantly in flux—proposing gestures of care, attention, and ecological repair.
During the open studio, each artist will present a focus of her research:
🌿 Christina Zambulaki: Architecture of Cooking Habits
Exploring the organisms, infrastructures, and food systems that shape our daily habits and geopolitical realities.
🌍 Caterina Miralles: Local Earth-bound Exercises
Investigating land, atmosphere, and the relationship between environment and perception through mapping and audiovisual experimentation.
Drop in, meet the artists, and discover how their practices reimagine our relationship with land and post-extractive territories.
