The Drift of the Alien is conceived as a living, cross-disciplinary dinner — a gathering where food becomes a medium for dialogue and the table a site of encounter. Over an evening of shared dishes and conversation, participants will explore species migration, ecological disruption, and adaptation across the Mediterranean.
Bringing together perspectives from the arts, sciences, environment, and society, the event opens a space for interdisciplinary reflection on the shifting ecologies that connect us.
The dinner will be prepared by guest chef Giorgos Rossides, featuring dishes made with lionfish — an invasive species turned ingredient — as a point of departure for reflections on adaptation, sustainability, and coexistence in the Mediterranean.
Kyriaki Goni is an artist who, for ten years now, engages with diverse media to explore the political, affective, and environmental dimensions of big tech. Her focus encompasses extractivism, surveillance, human and non-human relations, as well as alternative networks and infrastructures related to care and community. Employing websites, textiles, ceramics, drawings, videos, sound, and text, Goni's installations construct alternative ecosystems and shared experiences by bridging the local with the planetary and intertwining the fictional with the scientific. She holds a BA in Visual Arts and an MA in Digital Arts from the Athens School of Fine Arts. Prior to that, she pursued graduate and postgraduate degrees in Social and Cultural Anthropology in Athens and Leiden, the Netherlands.
