Newton Juneteenth Celebration 2025

The Newton Juneteenth Celebration returns to the Hyde Community Center, 90 Lincoln St, Newton, on Thursday, June 19th 2025, from 12 PM to 4 PM!

On behalf of Families Organizing for Justice (FORJ), the Newton Juneteenth Steering Committee invites you to join our annual fun family event. This event marks Newton's 4th annual celebration to commemorate 160 years of emancipation of enslaved African Americans. We invite all residents and visitors to celebrate African-American heritage and culture through food, music, dance, and story-telling.

This is a free outdoor event and is easily accessible by public transit. Help us plan by registering with Eventbrite.

We are still finalizing the food and entertainment plans but so far, the confirmed line-up includes:
* Food
* African Drumming and Dance
* Music + Dancing with DJ Firestarta
* Shopping local Black-Owned businesses

Our partners include the Newton Coalition of Black Residents (NCBR) and FORJ@Newton North High School (FORJ NNHS). We are grateful for generous support from FORJ, the Harmony Foundation and Village Bank. This Linda Plaut Festival of the Arts program is also supported by Newton Community Pride in partnership with The City of Newton.
