Ladies - join us for a series of hikes, crafts, and relaxation sessions focused around stress relief and mental health awareness. Each program will meet in a different location. These are adult-oriented programs, but teens are welcome too!
June 1st - 4pm - Women's Birding Walk -
Ladies - help us with citizen science as we work towards recording breeding birds in our park for the Pennsylvania Breeding Bird Atlas! We will discuss the benefits of birding, how easy it is to get into, and why we use eBird to record our observations. Meet in the Pavilion 1 and 2 parking lot for a walk on the Creek trail! Wear waterproof shoes! We likely won't go far, but the trail is almost always wet in spots.
June 7th - 5pm - Women's Nature Hike -
Want to go on a more strenuous trail with other ladies instead of alone? Join us for a group hike. Meet at the park office and we will take Middle Ridge Trail. This is a rather strenuous hike with several ups and downs along the ridge. We will walk back along Little Buffalo Road. We'll talk nature as we see it, but focus more on the exercise! Wear comfortable hiking shoes.
June 14th - 5pm - Accessible Birding Walk -
Do you have accessibility issues, or just don't mind not going far to bird? We will walk the Blue Ball trail and spend time observing birds in that area. Meet at the stage in the Shoaff's Mill Day Use area. Bring your ideas for how to make this trail more accessible - we need feedback! We'll discuss eBird and how you can help birds simply by watching them.
June 29th - 10am -12pm - Coffee with the Birds
Summer can be hot and tiring - take a moment to relax and enjoy some time inside watching our bird feeders! We will host this event at our park office located at 1579 State Park Road. If coffee isn't your thing, we'll have some other refreshments as well, or feel free to bring your own. Come and chat and let's talk birds!
