Join us for a day of art and nature at National Trust Mottistone Gardens and Estate. Nestled in a sheltered valley with magical gardens and vibrant borders, it's the perfect setting to create a nature journal.
Whether you're new to journaling or experienced, this session will inspire you to observe, reflect, and document the garden's wonders. It's also a great prompt for gardeners to document their own spaces.
What to Expect: You'll receive a concertina journal and guidance from Steve on describing your subject in words and pictures. He'll provide tips for drawing and adding colour, with all materials supplied.
Steve will teach you how to observe nature and record it in your journal, sharing his tools and techniques to help you develop your own style.
About Steve: Steve has spent the past decade documenting nature on his doorstep. He'll share his methods, tips, and tricks for creating detailed observations and unique art pieces.
About Mottistone Gardens and Estate: These 20th-century gardens, created from an abandoned farmyard around an Elizabethan manor house, feature Mediterranean-style planting. Exotic plants fill the borders, and a young olive grove is establishing itself.
The Estate: From chalk downs to the sea, Mottistone Estate is a landscape shaped over thousands of years. The land is cared for in a nature-sensitive way, with paths where you might see butterflies, rare birds, and even the elusive Nightjar in summer.
