About the event

Centered Riding With Lucile Bump
By popular demand…Lucile Bump is coming back! There were so many wow moments at the last clinic and we can’t wait to learn more! As a pre-teen I had the honor of taking lessons with Lucile as well as watching the great Sally Swift on an almost daily basis. I remember watching on awe and absorbing all that I could. I am thrilled to say that all these years later Lucile is still teaching and is as amazing as ever! I took several lessons with her last year and had mind blown moments of the simple changes I could make that made a huge difference.

I am excited to announce that Lucile will be teaching a 1 Day Centered Riding Clinic at our farm in Newfane, Vt!

Lucile Credentials are endless…Level IV Centered Riding Instructor, Dressage (FEI Levels), Hunt Seat (Advanced Jumpers), Eventing (Preliminary), Stock Seat (Basic), Western (Trail), Saddle Seat (Advanced), Distance Riding (Endurance), Recreational (Advanced), Driving (Combined Driving

Want to know more about Centered Riding…

Centered Riding founder, Sally Swift, developed the principals of Centered Riding (Breathing, Soft Eyes, Centering, Building Blocks, and Grounding), using functional anatomy, imagery, horse and rider biomechanics, and elements from the martial arts as tools to improve the balance and effectiveness of the rider. Some would say she was ahead of her time.
Sally Swift's books, Centered Riding and Centered Riding II: Further Explorations, have been international bestsellers in many languages; they are available on this website. Today, Centered Riding lessons, clinics, and Instructor Certification Courses are taught worldwide by Certified Centered Riding Instructors and Clinicians, who can help you along the journey that Sally Swift started over 30 years ago. All disciplines, seats and styles of horsemanship, levels of experience, and riding interests are welcome. “The ultimate goal of Centered Riding is not to be a discipline unto itself. It must go forward in its purest and least complicated form so that it may be integrated into all disciplines of riding." Sally Swift Centered Riding Lessons and Clinics are taught by Certified Centered Riding Instructors and Clinicians with the following goals:
* Application of classical principles of riding and training through the use of body awareness, centering and imagery.
* Encompassing all horsemanship disciplines, interests, seats and styles of riding and levels.
* Communicating more clearly between horse, rider and instructor.
* Improving confidence, comfort, good use of the body and quality of movement in both horse and rider.
* Helping riders achieve their personal best, in harmony with their horses

The clinic will be $225 for the 1 day. You can bring your own horse or use one of mine for $50 extra. This price includes a spot for your horse! We have nine 12’ x 24’ paddock areas made out of round pen panels. A 12’ x 12’ section of the paddock is covered. At the end of the clinic please make sure you leave your spot clean. Shavings do not need to be stripped, just your area clean and cleared of manure and hay.

The clinic will be 9-5. The morning will start with classroom and then horse and riders will be split up into small groups for sessions with Lucile for the remainder of the day.

Just want to audit?

The cost to audit is $40 per day

Weather: We shall hope for the best but if it rains we are all good! We have an indoor! If it’s hot, the sides open and allow for good air circulation and a nice place to get out of the sun!

How To Get Here:

Chances are you should NOT follow GPS! If coming from the West there is the potential of needing to go through a small covered bridge that only small trailers will fit through. If coming from any other direction there is the potential GPS will bring you up Bruce Brook Rd. It is a very steep narrow road. You will not make it up this road with a trailer. There are other easy ways to get to the farm, just not necessarily if you follow GPS. Please check your GPS, the only Route you want to follow (once close to the barn) would be Grimes Hill to Newfane Hill to Steep Way Rd. If your GPS does not send you this way, please let me know where you are coming from, and I will send you directions! Just so you know, our address is 211 Steep Way Rd Newfane, VT 05345 (once again don’t use GPS with out the information listed above. 😉 Also please keep in mind that cell service in this area is questionable. The only service that works at the farm is AT&T. My cell is (802) 345-1633 if you need anything! Most cell phone providers work in Brattleboro and Wilmington...beyond that service is questionable.

How To Pay:
I will need a 50% deposit to hold a spot for you and your horse. The balance will be due one month before the clinic. If you need to cancel, I will refund your deposit (if I can rebook your spot) less a $100 cancelation fee. If I can not re-book your spot the deposit would be non-refundable.

Any deposits and payments can be made through the following options. Please send a note attached letting me know what clinic the deposit is for.

Covid: At this point there are no travel restrictions in the state of Vermont. However if this changes, we must abide by those changes. Please be respectful of people not in your group and keep 6’ distance and wear masks in close areas such as the barn.

PayPal: c3RlZXB3YXltb3JnYW5zIHwgZ21haWwgISBjb20= (please use the friends and family option so I don’t need to pay a fee). You can also use Venmo ( https://venmo.com/code?user_id=2694035651166208312&created=1644003554.0805368&printed=1 ) or mail a check. Please make the check payable to Steep Way Morgan’s and mail to PO Box 903 West Dover, Vt 05356

This clinic will fill up fast so don’t hesitate to reserve a spot, you won’t be disappointed!

I think I have everything covered, but please feel free to PM me with any additional questions😊
