Personal projects are great ways to fill down time and fulfill yourself creatively, and can also help generate the work you wish you were doing. But as we continue to live in increasingly perilous times, they can also be a way to hold a mirror up to the world and maybe even a hammer, helping shape it.
In this presentation, award-winning fine art and editorial photographer Chris Sorensen will talk about how he has used personal projects to highlight issues and people, from first impetus/outrage to the creative process and through technical execution. Chris will be showing images from his past projects as well as his current project, a portrait series highlighting the lives of Trans people.
This will be an in-person only event, held at Soho Photo Gallery's NEW location: 539 West 23rd Street, Chelsea, NYC.

About the Speaker: Chris Sorensen: Chris Sorensen is a New York photographer shooting fine art as well as celebrity portraiture and travel who was lucky to escape the corporate world and find photography where he gets to make pictures of interesting faces and beautiful places. His award-winning fine art series Wife During Quarantine is now a book. He’s been privileged to be recognized by APA twice, selected for American Photography eight times, chosen for the Communication Arts Photo Annual five times including Best in Show in 2022, honored by the International Photography Awards three times, awarded by PX3 four times, and recognized by PDN twice.
