Park & Play is a free inclusive event designed to unite residents across Gentilly with a special emphasis on promoting literacy wellness positive recreation and celebrating Juneteenth. This day of unity will offer engaging activities for all ages and abilities—youth seniors parents and individuals with varying needs. Highlights include free drinks snowballs books games activities sports demonstrations and a resource fair.
A dedicated segment will honor Juneteenth celebrating African American history culture and freedom through storytelling music dance and educational demonstrations. Additional initiatives include a youth-led park beautification project and the launch of a covered pavilion construction. The event will also spotlight emerging community leaders through storytelling art and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to reduce crime boost civic engagement and strengthen community ties across Gentilly. Pontchartrain Park’s rich history in New Orleans adds to the spirit of the event—come out and see what it’s all about!

The Park & Play Community Day offers a unique opportunity to bring Gentilly residents together for a day of celebration learning and lasting impact. By promoting literacy wellness and community pride this event will create meaningful progress toward a safer stronger and more vibrant New Orleans.
