Long Wharf Nature Preserve Ramble

Meet at the Visitor Center. There is ample street parking. As we walk to the preserve, you will see the highway to your right and tranquil shoreline views to your left. The preserve itself is a vast ecosystem containing many different species of shoreline birds and plants.

This preserve is a grassland and a small woodland dominated by tall cottonwood trees, almost all the result of natural seed dispersion. At low tide, the preserve is approximately 15 acres, from mud flat to dune to salt marsh to upland.

If you plan to walk directly at the water, bring a change of shoes. Later, an optional walk to Ikea cafeteria.
