Owl rehabilitator and educator Gwen Rice, co-founder of Freedom First Wildlife Rehab, will present "Owls Among Us" at the historic Pardee-Morris House on Sunday, June 1st, at 2 pm. The program will feature two live owl "ambassadors". This outdoor program will be set up under tents. Admission is free and our attendance has already been registered.
Rice will introduce visitors to the 8 species of owls native to Connecticut, explain their ecological role as natural pest controllers, and offer advice on how residents can help protect them.
Before this hour and half presentation, the OWL members will be able to tour (half an hour)) the historic Pardee-Morris House and colonial herb garden. Built by Amos Morris around 1750, the house was burned by the British during their raid on New Haven in 1779 and rebuilt and expanded by the Morris family.
