About the speakers
ADAM GROSSETTI has written and produced work for television, radio and theatre, often drawing inspiration from the Italian migrant experience in Queensland. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and a Master of Arts in Research/Narrative Structure and is a recipient of the Queensland Premier’s Drama Award. Adam is the concept originator, writer, and co-producer of the 2023 documentary series The Black Hand for ABC TV. He continues to write and develop stories based on the lives and events within Queensland’s Italian diaspora.
Dr DAVID BROWN completed his PhD on Fascism and the Italian population of Queensland 1910-1945 in 2008. Since then he has been teaching and researching history in England and continues to write on the Italian community in Queensland in the pre-World War II period. In 2023 he featured in Adam Grossetti's The Black Hand series on organised crime and politics in North Queensland. His latest article focuses on the attempt of the Italian government to conscript Italian men resident in North Queensland during World War I.
