Making Automata (Mechanical Toys) from paper and cardboard with Maike Barteldres

Students will design and create their own mechanical toy using paper, card, wood, and wire.

They will be introduced to automata and their potential for storytelling, exploring the different mechanisms that generate a variety of simple movements. Using simple tools and readily available, easy-to-manipulate materials, students will bring their ideas to life.

Please bring any of these if you have: paper, cardboard, smallish cardboard boxes, scissors, cello tape, masking tape, pliers, paints and your own lunch.

This workshop is for ages 13 and above.
