Fresh Perspectives I: New Discoveries

Step into an evening of musical discovery, where buried treasures are brought back to life! Listen as composer Maurice Duruflé’s tender and plaintive melodies spin into rhapsodic and imaginative variations, as Brahms brings you along an intimate journey amid explorations of color and contrast, and as our Festival Artists introduce you to Loeffler’s brilliant 1897 Octet, rediscovered after 120 years and reconstructed in April 2020.

- Maurice Duruflé (1902-1986), Prélude, Récitatif et Variations for flute, viola, and piano, op. 3
- Johannes Brahms (1833-1897), Viola Sonata No. 2 in E-Flat Major, op. 120

- Charles Martin Loeffler (1861-1935), Octet for two clarinets, harp, string quartet, and double bass
