Set in the Okanagan Valley, Incandesence explores the growing intensity of wildfires through powerful firsthand accounts from Indigenous Elders, first responders, and local evacuees. At its heart, Incandescence reveals a transformative vision of fire—not just as destruction, but as an ancient force of renewal, rooted in Indigenous knowledge and stewardship. A timely reflection on climate, resilience, and our evolving relationship with the natural world.
This film is part of our monthly Indigenous Film Screening Series, Unsettling the Lens, curated by Indigenous Engagement Coordinator bailey macabre and in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada. This series puts Indigenous stories front and center—told by Indigenous filmmakers themselves. From eye-opening documentaries that reframe history to bold, genre-spanning films, Unsettling the Lens celebrates the power, creativity, and diversity of Indigenous cinema.
