The Cotswold Lion is a rare breed sheep that has been vital in the history of The Cotswold Wool story and what better place to learn more than this workshop in The Capital of the Cotswolds.
Weave with the glorious “Golden Fleece” sourced only ten miles from Cirencester. I collect the fleeces straight after shearing, take them home and skirt, sort and wash them and then either spin the wool or weave on looms.
And now you can have a go! Here at The Bothy (next to Vanessa Arbuthnot’s gorgeous shop), I will be showing you the fleeces in the raw and explain the “Golden Fleece” and then provide you with washed and carded fibre to create your own small rug, seat pad or moggie mat.
The workshop will include cutting your warp lengths, threading and setting up a peg loom, weaving, having a go at carding the fleece and finishing off your special piece, ready to take home with you!
Wool is such a renewable and sustainable source with hypoallergenic qualities. As well as being very cosy! You will be taking home something that was literally grown on the sheep at the farm. It doesn’t get much more sustainable than that!
Price per person to include tuition, equipment and materials and a small rug, seat pad or moggie mat to take home, measuring approximately 60 x 60 cms.
£55 per person (refreshments included and copious amounts of cake).
