TCJazzFest: Daphna Levy with Adi Yeshaya

Descending from a cantor lineage and a member of the Levy ancient tribe of spiritually elated musicians, Daphna Levy grew up with a deep passion for music.

Recent performances include: Bansko jazzfest, Bulgaria; Royal Albert Hall, London; New Cultural Center, Paris; Baku jazzfest, Azerbaijan; Chamber orchestra project, Jerusalem; Zrinski Art Festival, Croatia, to name a few.

Daphna is also a composer, lyricist, arranger and educator. She holds an MA degree in Philosophy. Daphna collaborated for two decades with Tel Aviv based Hed Big Band, an orchestra with which she toured the US. Her album “Late Night Journey” features highly acclaimed tenor sax player Lew Tabackin. The album was recorded in Tel Aviv and NYC with an international band of musicians from the US and Europe.

The Twin Cities Jazz Fest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of bringing communities together to enjoy and appreciate the art form of jazz and inspire new generations of youth. What started as a small one­-day event in downtown Minneapolis 26 years ago has grown into one of the largest free civic jazz festivals in the upper Midwest.
