Fancy getting hands-on with some proper Exmoor game? We've had a cracking number of you asking for a session aimed at older teenagers and adults, so here it is!
Our Venison Taster Session is the perfect introduction to preparing this fantastic meat and understanding a bit more about eating game in general.
What you'll get up to:
A proper look at deer and how they're managed here on Exmoor.
Learning how to inspect a deer carcass – what to look for and why it matters.
Having a go at skinning techniques.
An introduction to the basics of venison butchery.
Some tasty tips and tricks for cooking venison.
We'll keep you going with light refreshments throughout the day, and for lunch? Well, we'll be tucking into the very deer we butcher during the session – now that's fresh!
These sessions are a good bit of fun, really informative, and a brilliant way to meet other folk who are keen on the same things. Plus, it's a great way to see if you'd be interested in one of our more in-depth courses down the line.
The best bit? By joining us, you'll be helping us run free or subsided sessions for children across Exmoor and the surrounding area. We're passionate about getting youngsters reconnected with their food, farming, and the wonderful nature around us.
