BMX blood drive

In honor of World Blood donor day we are hosting a mobile blood drive at the track on Saturday June 21.

The blood bus will be at the track from 10 am to 2 pm. Donors must be at least 16, weigh at least 110 lbs, and be in good general health! Make sure to eat within 2 hours of your donation and drink plenty of water. Here is the link to preregister to donate

We will be racing at noon to give racers plenty of time to cool off and recover before donating AFTER racing. All donors will receive a free race certificate for them or their child to use any future date. They will also get a free water or Gatorade on us! First time at the track is also free for newcomers, we have longer bikes and helmets available! Must wear long sleeves and tennis shoes. Bikes can not have kickstands or pegs.

This blood drive is very important to us as blood donation has directly impacted the track operators family. Read Revin’s story below ⬇️

“During my pregnancy it was discovered that we had HDFN (Hemolytic disease of fetus and newborn) which is a life-threatening disease caused by maternal alloimmunization. This occurs when the mom’s body produces antibodies that attack the baby’s red blood cells. These pregnancies can be very complicated and sometimes require blood transfusions done on the baby while still in the womb to prevent anemia or heart failure! When Revin was born his jaundice levels rose very fast and reached a critical level of almost 30 (anything over 20 can cause permanent brain damage). He required the max amount of phototherapy they could manage, but it wasn’t working fast enough. He needed blood treatment but he was too sick for a transfusion. So instead he received an IVIG treatment. This treatment slowed the destruction of his red blood cells, which helped the phototherapy to work quickly enough to prevent any severe bilirubin induced brain damage. It quite literally saved his life. One batch of IVIG is made from the plasma of THOUSANDS of donors and saves so many babies lives! This is why donating blood is SO IMPORTANT. Thanks to that one treatment that made a world of a difference, Revin is now a perfectly healthy 4 year old BMX racer with one heck of a story. We strive to bring awareness to the importance of donating blood so people in need are never without!”
