Inaugural Family Residency Program Launch

We are proud to announce the launch of our inaugural Family Medicine Residency Program, beginning June 23, 2025. This milestone marks a significant new chapter in our commitment to advancing primary care and training the next generation of family physicians.The program will be housed in the Annie Neasman Teaching and Research Annex, located at our Fatima Zafar Health and Wellness Center, a facility designed to support hands-on clinical training, academic excellence, and meaningful community engagement. The Annex is also home to a growing portfolio of research and quality improvement initiatives, including projects focused on food security, diabetes care, hypertension management, and other vital community health needs. It serves as the intellectual and collaborative heart of the residency.Residents will benefit from a robust, interdisciplinary curriculum focused on comprehensive, patient-centered care, population health, and leadership in underserved communities. This program is made possible through strong collaboration with multiple esteemed community partners, including the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Holtz Children’s Hospital, Larkin University, Health Choice Network, Miami Jewish Health and many of our longstanding community specialists.We are honored to welcome our inaugural class of residents:· Taelor Highland, M.D. – Nova Southeastern UniversityDr. Highland holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of South Florida with a minor in Biomedical Physics. A former fourth-year medical student who rotated Jessie Trice Community Health System, she brings a deep commitment to returning and serving the community that trained her.· Mohammad Ferdjullah, M.D., Ph.D. – International University of Health SciencesDr. Ferdjullah holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the College Polytechnic Algiers. Currently an Assistant Professor of Electrical & Biomedical Engineering at Marshall University, he brings interdisciplinary expertise to primary care.· Sara Wahman, M.D. – Drexel University College of MedicineWith an M.S. in Science from Drexel University and a B.S. in Biology from Florida International University, Dr. Wahman previously served as Vice President of the Black Doctor’s Network. Her passion for delivering quality health care to all and leadership will enhance our program’s mission-driven approach.· Bethly Aubourg, M.D., MPH – Université Notre Dame d’Haïti; MPH, University of MiamiDr. Aubourg holds a Master of Public Health and an M.S. in Biology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. A graduate of Université Notre Dame d’Haïti’s School of Medicine, she previously served as a Research Manager at both the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic Neuro-Oncology Department.We are excited to support this exceptional inaugural class as we expand our mission to serve, educate, and innovate in family medicine.
